the "D" St. Bridge
HEY! This blogging "stuff" is fun!
This week I'd like to share my innermost feelings
about the "D" St. bridge.I feared the VERY worst..did
you too ? When the signs went up telling us that the
bridge would be closed from early September till the
middle of November..I let out a VERY audible "OH NO!"
My thinking,of course, was that projects such as this
one NEVER finish when they are supposed to..So,
middle of November? I seriously doubt it ! I,as many
do, use that lovely little bridge almost every day to
travel from my home on the West side to get to the
East side. That is my "shortcut".As I cross over the
draw bridge I love to look at the Lind's boats
(Jerico),the fishermen and the kayakers. Without that
wonderful "shortcut", I realized that my cross town trip
would be elongated by 10 or 15 minutes. No big deal
really, but a bit of an inconvenience. So..as I was
driving downtown last week I happened to look to my
right and saw cars..LOTSA cars going over the bridge.
I took an immediate right turn and headed towards the
bridge to see if I may have been "hallucinating". (the
60s and 70s took their toll on me) Lo and
behold...DONE !!! I looked to the right as I crossed over
the bridge. The Lind family's boats looked better than
ever ! Fishermen were fishing..kayakers were
kayaking..the river was back in ALL it's glory !!
A job well done..AND..done early. WOWIE!!
P.S. I didn't even mind waiting in line for 10 minutes
yesterday while the bridge was up to allow boaters
into the turning basin.
Life is GRAND in Petaluma !!!!!!!!!!!
